Jack Williams' uniquely Southern-American music resonates with a steady
pulse of tradition. His carefully crafted songwriting, sublime acoustic
guitar, and weathered tenor gracefully encompass a host of musical idioms
- folk, country, rock, jazz, blues - but none resonate more strongly than
Williams' own deep sense of soul. Based in Columbia, South Carolina, Jack
has been developing a phenomenal word-of-mouth reputation for his unsurpassed
guitar playing, the beauty of his writing, and the strength of his performance.
fter years on the road playing coffeehouses, concerts and festivals, Jack
spent two years touring with the legendary songwriter Mickey Newbury,
allowing him to further develop an audience across the country while honing
his songwriting at the feet of the master. As a singer/songwriter,
Jack has opened for Dar Willams, Tom Paxton, David Wicox, John Gorka,
Steve Forbert, Kevin Welch, Dave Mason, Guy Clark, Jonathan Edwards, Nicolette
Larson, and Leon Russell. As a guitarist, he has accompanied Tom Paxton,
Lucy Kaplansky, Ellis Paul, Tom Prasada-Rao, Dana Kurtz, Caroline Aiken
and of course, Mickey Newbury. Across The Winterline is a landmark release
for Jack. Superbly recorded and produced, it showcases each of his strengths
while expanding the sound with enough accompaniment to fully realize the
songs. With the musical blend acheived, the songs carry the senses of
time, place, home, love, family and tradition that make Jack Williams'
writing and performing so special and unique amogst today's songwriters.
