Sing it Again
I recently got from Folk Era yours and Dick Foley's "Sing It Again" CD. It is absolutely perfect: the song selection, magnificent singing and playing and production. When you wrote to me about a week and a half ago about this CD coming out, I knew that you and Dick would sound wonderful together. What was clear from first listening was how you and Dick shared the lead singing and harmony equally and how terrifically each of your voices complemented the other. The added percussion that was on some tracks was a great touch. When it kicked in on "500 Miles" I started thinking, "Hey, this may well be the best version of this song I've ever heard." That particular song was the first I ever tried to play on guitar (1963), and after actually learning to play and sing, I added it to my repertoire. It's funny, but I've not sung "500 Miles" in public in ages, but inspired by you guys doing it so well, I know I will re-add it. With a selection of songs that could NOT have been improved upon, I especially like, "The Boxer," "Reason to Believe," "Four Strong Winds," "Follow the Drinking Gourd," "City of New Orleans," " Seven Daffodils," "Tomorrow Is a Long Time," and "500 Miles". But the others all work so well, too! The whole CD is a real treat for the ears. - Bob Barter, Berwick, Maine
